The Calm Before The Storm

It’s December 16th, and I know I have not been active on my blog since summer! I feel so guilty, but I just haven’t felt like writing. What the heck? I don’t understand it myself. I say this is the calm before the storm for many reasons. My daughters and grand kids will be here in a week for Christmas and they’re staying for 10 days! The decorations are up, the gifts are wrapped and cookies are made. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. There is something magical about spending the holidays with children and I just love spoiling them during this time.

Another reason for the title of this post is that on January 8th I’ll be having an Endoscopy and a Colonoscopy. I have been having stomach pain, which sometimes feels like a heart attack. Yes, I have been to the cardiologist and will have an Echo cardiogram this coming Wednesday. I had a very toxic chemotherapy drug (Adriamycin) or Doxorubicin which can cause damage to the heart. I also did have a positive stool sample with blood in it last month. Oh and also this Friday I see my orthopedic surgeon as a pre op appointment for a total rod replacement in my femur. He said he will need to draw some fluid off my knee to check for infection before my surgery on January 14th. I am so not looking forward to that.

Last month I spent 4 days in the hospital with viral meningitis which was my third time in 20 years. I was stuck about 100 times in my spine by an incompetent doctor without getting a drop of spinal fluid. With my horrible noodle veins I was stuck 16 times in one arm (can’t use the left arm because of lymph nodes that were removed with mastectomy) for blood draws and IV’s before they inserted a pic line. Lord help me, I know the saying “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”, but come on!

Oh well, for now I will focus on my family and Christmas. I will enjoy every minute of my freedom before dealing with all of this medical crap. This is the perfect time to focus on what is important in my life. My family, friends, my health, and my animals. I wish you all a Merry Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate, may it be beautiful and peaceful. May the 2020 year bring blessings, prosperity and a multitude of peace and love.
